Sour Marketing?

I received an newsletter from eEye yesterday. Normally I just dismiss those without taking a second look but this time I actually got pretty pissed.

Here’s a screenshot of the newsletter:

So, several questions? Let me ask a question also:

Where was eEye the last 4 months when the exploitation was at the hottest?

I don’t know the answer but I can tell you where they weren’t: They weren’t there to actually try to fight the situation.

Only now, months after the initial breakout, they are trying to beef up the marketing. And how they are doing it? Using a 3rd party idea on how to detect conficker remotely. Without even giving proper kudos to the brilliant people behind the idea.

In my books, eEye just earned a biiig minus on their scorecard.
