Unsubscribing for the worse

Have you ever unsubscribed from various bulk mailing programs? Be them opt-out (fancy name for spam), coupons, market research or whatnot?

While most will propably honour an unsubscription  request, some operators might “resell” your address to other opt-out (again that fancy synonym for spam) schemes. And then there are the 3rd kind. Those that most likely mean good and unsubsribe from the list without giving the e-mail address onwards.Intentionally atleast.

But like all masterplans must come to an end, some of them face an epic failure. I stumbled today on a coupon/market research site that offer $500 shopping sprees and what not. Legitimate, no bad reviews to be seen on other site, and a 38k strong list of unsubsribed e-mail addresses visible to anyone who stumbles on it. I did sent them a notification on it, will be interesting to see how fast they act.
